Internet: Is It Saturated?
Posted in Business World June 29th, 2008

Thousands of websites popup on the internet everyday from people trying to make extra cash or even a living online. A lot of these sites are unoriginal and have no unique difference compared to their competitors. Due to the that fact many people fill that the internet is saturated. Some also feel that it will be harder to get good search engine position in the future and if you cannot do that you should not bother. Their are thousand of discussion forums, thousands of ecommerce sites, thousands of eBay stores, thousands of blogs, and thousands of other site but that does not mean the internet is saturated.

The main reasons one could argue the internet is not saturated is because even if you get millions of pages for a search term, many of those pages are from some of the same sites and many more are dead links and undeveloped sites. Another argument is the fact that the majority of people do not get organic search engine traffic, many of the people making 5 and 6 figure a year are advertising using pay per click, myspace, and offline advertising. An additional argument against the internet being saturated is the fact that Google came along and took over as the top search engine even though their where several established search engine already. YouTube, launched last year is the top video site even though their were similar sites launched before 2000.

For those that think the internet is saturated it is not, if you work hard, have a solid advertising budget, and can utilized the media to draw traffic to your website, there is no reason you cannot make 5 or 6 figures a month.

Maybe It’s Me
Posted in World Of New Age June 28th, 2008

You’ll have to excuse me for my eccentric views on the world, people, sports, food.
Life. Etcetera (Is it just me or is it just funny that when we drive our cars we are
controlled by traffic signals and signs on the road? I’m the type of guy who doesn’t
like to be under anybody’s control, much less under the command of an inanimate
object. And then we play games and try to manipulate them by going a different
speed than normal or taking an alternate route to avoid them altogether. See? We’re
under their control. And it’s funny).

United State of America - When It’s Convenient

Where is the unity this country had for three weeks after September 11, 2001? Do
you remember? We all flew our little American flags and sang patriotic songs
together. I saw signs that said “WE SHALL NOT FORGET - 9/11/01.” Everyone in our
town was our neighbor and no one dared mention anything concerning race
relations during that time. We were Americans. We had been violated and there was
no way we were going to come against each other once we saw there was a greater
enemy at hand. Again, maybe it’s just me - but has anything really changed? Seems
like we’ve forgotten.

Maybe it’s just me.

I like to come together with any given set of people on certain occasions and forget
about who I am for a little while. Is there any greater fun than talking with someone
who accepts you for you? No pressure to project any great image which, if I admit it,
is only great to myself anyway. Walls come down and we talk and laugh together
and tell stories and stupid jokes for hours before we realize we need to recompose
and settle back into ourselves. But then I can hardly wait to do it again. The
questions is, why wait? Can’t we all let our walls down everyday and quit acting like
we have something to protect? It’s a wonderful world we’ve been given and we all
have something extraordinary inside us to give back.

So, we’re all Americans. We live here, work here, play here, eat here. But not
necessarily together. We have our different social levels and some aren’t allowed
into our circle for various reasons. One has a defective leg or half an arm. Another
one is just too happy all the time. That one just doesn’t look right. We can’t hang
with that. Not by choice. We only find out in the wake of extreme events if who we
think we are is real. Whether you’re rich, poor, beautiful, honest, dishonest —
doesn’t matter. Katrina played no favorites. She came through with no respect
whatsoever to social class or communal goodness. If you were anywhere near her,
you and your stuff was submerged and/or destroyed beyond repair. Things change.
Sometimes too quickly. Sometimes our walls are torn down for us.

The Missing Ingredient

I’m not ashamed to say it - usually, I’m the last one to see how imperfect I am. I like
to think that I have no faults and that everyone should love me just because I’m me.
You know, I’m the only one who is me. I’m special, right? Of course I am.

I had something happen to me some time ago and it brings tears to my eyes when I
think of it. He caught me as I was waiting for a friend outside a sandwich shop. I
didn’t think much about it since other people were also passing by, but as he came
closer, I realized I was his target. I figured he was hungry and was about to ask me
for a taste of my fresh cuisine. I was wearing jeans with a maize and blue college
football jersey, emblazoned with the number 18. He was a young guy, crippled and
deformed with a bag strapped to his back. With a certain air of determination, he
walked up to me the best he could, smiling, with no regard to whether or not I
wanted to talk to him. I don’t know exactly what made him think he could just step
to me like that. But without a hint of disrespect, he said, “You’re too tall and skinny
to be a running back so you must be a wide receiver.” I just looked at him for a
second or two before I got caught up, then began laughing hysterically. “Oh, the
jersey!!! Kid, I don’t play football. This is just a jersey I wear because I like the
colors!”

Unfazed, he continued on with the conversation as though he’d been through
similar situations before. “Will you throw this football with me?” he asked.

I looked at him again and I noticed that he had no hands. I examined further and
saw he only had half a foot. I paused for a moment and moved on as if I hadn’t seen
his physical defects - and I was fooling myself if I thought he hadn’t seen that I saw
them. Even so, I said sheepishly, “I guess you have a football in your bag?”

“Yes, ” he answered. “I love football but I can’t find anyone who will play with me.”

Just about this time, my friend was arriving at the scene. “Listen, young fella,” I
replied. “I don’t have much time right now. I need to eat and he’s gotta go to work.”
Afraid that the boy was hip to the fact that I wanted nothing to do with him, I
attempted to show support through what I considered to be encouragement. “Hey,
you’ll find somebody to toss that ball around with.”

To make a long story short, I never saw the kid again. But instead of him looking for
me, I’m looking for him this time. I’m looking for him because he has what I’m
missing. I’m the broken one. I’m the one who has the imperfections. He had no
hands but he knew his arms would work for him. He couldn’t run but that didn’t
stop him from trying to walk. He had pain in his heart but a smile on his face. He
was continually rejected but remained determined to do what he loved.

He was just a boy but he taught me a lesson I will always remember. Before I met
him I loved my clothes, my car, my music, my space, my time…all the gifts I gave
myself. But he taught me to love myself - truly love myself in spite of all my
weaknesses, disabilities and defects. I found, too, that the only difference between
us is that our infirmities are in opposite places - his on the outside, mine on the
inside. All that means is that I can hide for a little longer but eventually it all comes
to light.

Free is a Four Letter Word
Posted in Marketing Infos June 24th, 2008

Free. Oh how we love to hear that word. Just the sound of it coming off anyone’s lips triggers the immediate exclamatory one-word questions — “What?” “When?” or “Where?”

Everyone loves a bargain. And there was once a time on the Internet when everything was at a bargain. For the Internet boom of the late 1990’s ushered in the “free business model” when almost everything you wanted online was priced at . . . well, for free.

That’s not the case anymore. Many of those companies with the free offers have taken free voluntary bankruptcy.

But still, there are many websites that use freebies to increase their website traffic and attract new business. Does it work? You darn right it does, or else it wouldn’t still exist. However, the online commerce world is a game of “Survivor” if there ever was one. Survival of the fitess, that is.

Free works great as a marketing strategy provided it is used to convert website visitors into real paying customers. To do that you have to have a product or service that people need, want and will buy. But above all, your products and services have to be competitively priced. The only way you can expect to garner top bucks for your goods or services online is to offer proprietary products and services that no one else offers. If you can’t do that, be prepared to lose a lot of sales to your Internet competition who most likely has some aspect of the free business model in their marketing plan.

You have to be competitive online, because now, more than ever before, people have the ability to use powerful search engines like PriceGrabber.com, PriceScan.com or Shopzilla.com to find the best deals online.

But what if you’re not searching for a name brand product. What if you really do want something for free? What if you want to know more about what’s free online for lesser known products and services. Then, you might want to consider turning to an information source that provides helpful articles and hints about free goods and services online.

In the event you can’t find the free item or service you desire, or chasing down a free offer ends up costing you big bucks, chances are you might just copy and paste “free” to your brain’s list of bad four-letter words. :o)

Estate-tax Vote Delayed
Posted in Money Management June 24th, 2008

The estate-tax vote has been delayed until after the weeklong 4th of July recess.

Republicans were reportedly unable to attract enough votes to overcome a Democratic filibuster.

“The vast majority of my Democratic colleagues have so far refused to address this issue. It’s my hope that their constituents will use the upcoming recess to explain the importance of supporting a reasonable and permanent solution to this unfair tax,” said Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN).

Frist had called for the compromise measure as a way to pass a reduction of the estate tax this year. A full repeal of the tax had failed to move forward in the Senate earlier in the year. Frist needs 60 votes to bring the measure to formal debate.

The measure is expected to reduce tax revenues by approximately $283 billion over the next 10 years. Democrats argue that the measure only benefits the wealthy, at the cost of the federal budget.

“This is not an issue we should be dealing with. We’re all willing, at the right time, to take a look at estate tax, but this is not the time to do it when we have red ink that is burying this country,” said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, (D -NV).

Conservative Republicans are also up at arms over the measure, saying that it doesn’t do enough to reduce the tax, it should be eliminated.

President Bush’s 2001 tax cuts currently reduce the estate tax each year, increasing the exemption amount and reducing the rates. In 2010, the tax rate will be zero. In 2011, the top tax rate will bounce back to 55%, with estates under $1 million exempt from the taxation.

The House bill is a compromise that raises the exemption to $5 million per person and reduces the top rate to double the capital-gains tax rate.

“The House of Representatives made tremendous progress last week toward achieving a permanent solution to the death tax. Now it’s up to the Senate to decide whether it can improve upon the House bill, or whether this is the bill that should be sent to the president for his signature,” said Frist.

As Players We NEED To Understand That We MUST Control The Three Parts Of The Golf Club In Order To
Posted in Life Of Sports June 21st, 2008

What Controls These Three Parts?

As players we NEED to understand that we MUST control the three parts of the golf club in order to strike quality golf shots. These three parts are:

1. The clubface

2. The clubhead

3. The clubshaft

These three parts MUST be controlled through three Stations - from Address, to the Top, and to the Finish. You’ll notice that Impact is NOT included in these locations.

Impact does not have the rank of a station simply because it happens if you have controlled the club through the three Stations.

1. The left hand controls the clubface and its job is to impart “Hinge Action” to the face supplying direction, trajectory, and curvature. These three “Hinge Actions” are known as (1)Vertical - a wall, (2) Horizontal - a floor, and (3)Angled - somewhere in between.

In a Geometrically correct golf stroke (ideal application) the Horizontal Hinge Action is used. This action works just like a door that is opening and closing. While on a Horizontal Plane it is clear to see that there is NO turning or rolling in either direction. But on an Inclined Plane of motion there is a turn to the right and a roll to the left.

2. The right hand - more specifically the first joint of the right index finger - controls the clubhead, its job is to sense where the clubhead is at all times and to direct the action of the clubhead. Using what is known as the “Aiming Point Concept” the direction and point of location in the downstroke varies according to hand speed, and the club being used. The shorter the club the more in front of the golf ball the “Aiming Point” is.

For example, when hitting a greenside bunker shot the player should be looking at a spot behind the golf ball. This is because that’s where we want the club to strike the sand.

The same principle applies here. A wedge for example would be in front of the ball. A 5 iron would be at the ball, and a Driver may be behind the ball.

3. Finally, the clubshaft controls the Plane. The Plane is the angle that the club moves back and down on. It can stay on the same Inclined Plane back and down, shift to another angle, or even have several shifts during the stroke. The simplest is to NOT shift at all. The next easiest is to only shift this plane angle once, then two shifts, then three shifts, etc. Annika Sorenstam, Tiger (when he’s on), Adam Scott, Michelle Wie, and host of others use either a “single” shift in their procedures. Nick Price, Nick Faldo and others use a “double” shift while Jim Furyk uses a “customized” plane and multiple shifts.

You can use any of these and obviously play great golf, but remember - ANY PLANE SHIFT IS DANGEROUS!

Learn to control these three parts of the golf club and you will be on your way to golfing “Nirvana”.

Furniture Stores
Posted in Hall Of Home Improvements June 20th, 2008

A piece of furniture doesn’t just serve a functional purpose. It is a part of the home decor, expected to coordinate with the house’s ambience and have a style and personality of its own. The furniture industry has risen to this demand and has gone a step further in providing a plethora of design and style options. Furniture stores of all possible kinds swarm the market. Retail furniture stores, lifestyles stores, exclusive baby furniture stores, office furniture stores, home office furniture stores, used furniture stores, wholesale and discount stores, and unfinished and ready-to-make unassembled furniture stores are all making their presence felt. Specialized furniture stores for every demand are easily found in the local markets as well as online. The easy availability of good-quality furniture present in specialized stores and displayed appealingly sometimes creates a need among consumers where none existed before.

The best way to find local furniture stores is to search the Yellow Pages or mail-order catalogs. Surfing the net for local stores is not a very productive effort. However, some websites like www.furniturefan.com give a listing of various furniture stores scattered across America. Caution should be the name of the game while making purchases. Good quality, high-demand products, including vintage, antique and authentic rustic pieces, come with a heavy price. For those short on cash, many stores offer financing, easy-payment deals, and down payment options during purchases. Sometimes these turn out to be sneaky. It always helps to check the various written policies (damaged products, refund etc) and the reputation of the store before going for any deal.

It is always better to buy from stores, whether offline or online, as they provide good quality products in eclectic styles catering to everyone’s taste. Brands include Ethan Allen, Ashley, Millennium, Wesley Allen, Geovanny Turanu and many more. Most stores provide free local shipping, and the product is packaged appropriately for damage-free delivery.

Online stores like www.furniture.com and www.furniturefind.com enable a customer to shop in the comfort of their home. Most websites feature room planners and style guides to aid a customer in his hunt for the perfect furniture. It’s safer to check the websites for the BBB logo. The BBB (Better Business Bureau) is a non-government mediating organization that seeks to settle disputes, if any, between a business body and the consumer.

Furniture Stores provides detailed information on Furniture Stores, Online Furniture Stores, Discount Furniture Stores, Used Furniture Stores and more. Furniture Stores is affiliated with Furniture Rental Stores.

Interior Decorating With Picture Frames
Posted in Hall Of Home Improvements June 19th, 2008

There are many ways to decorate the interior of your home, none the least of which is with picture frames. Picture frames have the unique ability to personalize a house in more ways than one. You can share with friends, family and visitors your memories and cherished moments.

There are literally dozens of different picture frames to choose from including:

  • Collage picture frames
  • Digital picture frames
  • Magnetic picture frames
  • Shadow boxes
  • Wholesale picture frames

You don’t have to spend a fortune to decorate your home using picture frames. In fact cheap picture frames or discount picture frames look just as classy and elegant as expensive ones. One thing you do need to do before decorating your home however is stock up on picture framing supplies. Be sure you get any matte, mounting equipment and other items you need so you can do your decorating in one fell swoop.

Steps For Decorating Your Home

There are several steps you can follow to ensure your decorating goes well. Here are a few tips for saving time and decorating efficiently:

  1. First inventory all the photographs and memorabilia you have. Separate groups of photos and memento’s into categories. Some ideas include vacation shots, weddings, birthdays, children etc.
  2. Survey your home. Take some time out to decide what walls and areas of the home you would like to display your pictures in. Stairwells are a popular choice for displaying photographs. You can also use wall space in the living room, dining room and bedrooms. Hallways are also a great area for displaying pictures and frames, as are foyers.
  3. Don’t forget, you won’t have to mount all frames, like digital picture frames. These picture frames look great as stand-alones. You can decorate your office, bedroom and den with them.
  4. Assess the number of frames you need relative to the photos you have.
  5. Decide the style frames you want in each area of the house. Try to match the style of the frame to the theme of the photograph and then to the decor of the room.

Tips For Hanging Your Pictures

Before you start hanging your pictures, be sure you gather all your supplies together. You will need at the minimum your frames, pictures, hanging wire, a hammer, pencil and some wall screws. If you can, enlist the assistance of a housemate or family member to help you hang pictures. They will help you decide if your pictures are placed correctly and hung evenly.

If you don’t have someone to assist you, you can use a piece of paper or cardboard cut to the exact size of the picture. Take this “pattern” and tape it to the place you want to hang the picture. That way you can move it about easily to see exactly where you want it without having to put a bunch of holes in your wall! This works particularly well if you want to group several pictures together.

Keep in mind when hanging picture frames for decorations, you want each photo to add to the room, not detract from it. You don’t need to cover your walls in hundreds of pictures to make a statement. Rather select a few key pieces that will accent the room. If you have a group of pictures that are too large to display at once, you can rotate them seasonally.

Think about the room’s layout. This includes other accessories in the room such as a table, TV, lamp and more. Decide where the best place to put your picture is. Then hold it up to the wall and experiment with different angles. Not all pictures need to be centered in the middle of the wall. Figure out where the picture looks best relative to the other furniture in the room. Have your companion help you decide the best spot for your picture.

Now you can hang your picture. You want to make sure your picture is even. Measure the distance of your picture from each corner to the edge of the wall. You can use a tape measure if that helps. Mark your spot with a pencil once you decide what place the picture is most even.

Most pictures hang well using ordinary picture hooks. You should have a supply of these readily available. The bottom of the picture hook should land at the spot you marked for your hole. If you need to hang heavier pictures you should use nails and not hooks. You can use two instead of one to provide added support.

The most important thing to remember when decorating is to have fun. Remember you can rotate out pictures during certain times of the month or year. Decorating with picture frames is one of the easiest ways to accent your home in a loving and personal manner.
