In tournament poker, a few basic rules apply. One of the most fundamental of these rules is the fact that the first rounds will be absolutely swamped by inexperienced and unskilled online poker players. The current rush of ignorance in the beginning of every tournament is partially due to televised poker shows that convince everyone that they can be the next poker start and the natural influx of new players in the game. It is easy for an inexperienced player to go on auto drive in these first couple of rounds and zone out. They know enough to win easily, and can really do so without thinking. However, this is practically the worst strategy that you can adopt. You will end up being much more successful in a poker online tournament if you use these first couple rounds as a chance to make your move. There are a lot of different reasons why you should make a move early in a tournament but the most basic is the fact that the game is easier in the beginning. It is much easier to win against the fish than the sharks. Use the beginning rounds as an opportunity to build up your chip stack so that you will have available capital later down the line. If you so not make a move now, you will regret it later when you do not have the chips to play aggressively.
National lotteries have become highly common throughout the globe. Their popularity can be seen by how the lottery draws are oftentimes on television during prime times just so everyone can get a pen and paper and tick off the numbers they have picked out. Nonetheless, the betting odds are heaped against YOU winning. Just because someone wins doesn’t say the odds are good. - no matter if you took part in the lottery all your life. The majority of individuals play the lottery for a bit of excitement, while keeping alive the ambition (theoretically at least) of viably retiring early. Many people don’t only purchase a ticket - they’re also buying a dream.
But while such huge lotteries truly turn the odds against every last individual entrant, there are draws on the web which do give you a tangible possibility of getting your mitts on some high value prizes such as a house, a holiday or a car. These types of competitions - although not promising one millions - will present to you a far better opportunity of winning. Moreover, one normally has to answer some questions correctly before being allowed into the competition. - so skill is needed.
It’s a wise move to see what type of prize draws are already on the web. Just enter keyphrases into a search engine such as prize draw competitions UK and you’ll promptly discover a lot of prize draws to take part in.
If you’re reading this you’re on the right track to improving your poker game. Because that’s recommendation number one: Read, read, and read some more. There are countless online poker books out there written by the professionals, and most of them are solid grounding points to help you get your game off to a good start. If you look at these books as an investment and not an expense, you will begin to see the benefit of buying them. Just one tip that earns you profit will pay for the book. Next, and again you’re on the right track, is to use the internet to its fullest potential. There are countless forums out there that will help you boost your poker online game. Railbirds.com, 2+2, and many others have become prominent places to talk about poker philosophy, tips, tricks, and general strategy. Use these resources, they’re free. Have a cell phone? Why not download a Hold ‘Em program that lets you play against computerized opponents. These computerized opponents will give you the most mathematical challenge you’ll face on the poker felt. On top of learning the math behind the game, you’ll be getting plenty of hand experience which will help with your patience as well. Finally, you need to learn to think about the game. Most beginners think only of their own hands and not what their opponent may be holding. As your game grows you’ll start to grow accustomed to thinking about all the important things in a given hand, and then in a given sessions. Things like position, and bet size, and pot control will soon become autopilot things that you integrate into your game. But you have to teach yourself to do it. You have to teach yourself to notice trends and get better and condition yourself to think instead of simply react. And that’s probably the most important key in improvig your game: becoming self-aware.
The 2 5 suited or unsuited is a fairly abysmal hand, a double gapper, but still with the ability to make a straight. This poker hand should be folded at all times, unless you are just really anxious to keep pushing hard with nothing, or if you are priced in in the blinds. Calling raises with hands like 2 5 is basically asking to give your online poker money away, as even in the rare events where you flop a monster, you might often still be open to getting crushed by bigger hands. Still, 2 5 is preferable to the dominating 2 6 or 2 7 in that it still does have that gap, though it is more difficult to make a straight here than with 2 4 or 2 3. And once again, when you do flop big with a online poker hand as unsightly as this, you are virtually guaranteed to get paid off, even if often the hands that will pay you off can resuck out, as even the ‘big hands’ 2 5 makes are vulnerable to a wide range. Still, there can be a certain kind of satisfaction in turning over a winning 2 5 when all of your opponents are playing AA and AK. This hand is reserved for wild men and prospectors only. Buyer beware.
Experienced online poker players know how to disguise their poker online hands and thoughts from other players. They change up their betting patterns, and reveal very little about themselves. The only way to get information about their hands is through betting.
When playing a game populated seasoned poker online players, it is especially hard to get a read on anyone. Tight players who check a lot, then call bets are often laying a trap. These players are apt to slow play their big hands and let others do the betting for them. Aggressive loose players are just plain unpredictable.
How do you decide to risk your chips against these inscrutable players? The best strategy is to put out a probe bet. This is similar to a value bet in that the probe bet is minimal, perhaps twice the big blind, yet still small enough for those on a draw or with a weak hand to call. Any players who call the probe bet have revealed they are holding or chasing something.
The probe best works best from early and middle position when you have tight players behind you. Use it when you have medium strength cards that might be best, such as second highest pair on the board. From late position, you can use a probe bet with more speculative hands, like those drawing to a flush or straight. A probe bet buys information on which to base your next actions. It also can win the pot right away, or build a bigger pot for your potentially winning hand.
When you are getting the worst of every showdown you see, and start to feel forlorn and mentally exhausted by the tough beats, it may be time to take some time off, and step away from the felt for a bit. Quitting poker while you are ahead is not the same as quitting, and even if you are behind, you are much more likely to play better with a clear head, and a fresh plan for battle. Even the best in the world take time off from what they are doing, and obviously the concept of a vacation is something everyone is familiar with. However, poker players sometimes tend to push themselves and lose perspective on why they are playing. If you are playing for entertainment, but you just keep losing, it might serve you well to take a bit of time off to read some poker literature and work on your game in your leisure time. If you are semi-professional or full time pro, reviewing your hand histories and statistics and looking for leaks and possible ways your opponents are exploiting you would also be an obvious suggestion. If poker is your sole means of income, taking time off may seem like you are wasting money. Change your perception of the situation, and understand that if you are playing poorly, you are better off not playing than playing and losing. If you have committed a lot of time, you can consider yourself deserving of a break, and should be able to relax without worrying about lost income. If it really bothers you, spend your time off looking into other forms of investment, and ways to grow your bankroll without playing poker. Look for business opportunities, stock investments or long term growth ideas like mutual funds or Vanguard securities. During this time off, indulge in other things that you enjoy. Relax your mind and take care of your body, and you will find when you sit down to play again, you will be fresh and focused again, and will be able to put in more quality sessions than you otherwise would have been able to without the time off.
Maybe you are an occasional bowler eager to treat real bowling more seriously. Since this is your calling, you’re approaching a major rebirth in learning the game as a dedicated bowler. My introduction to the Top 5 Bowling Tips stand as essential reading. Pros in your city’s bowling pro shop want clients develop bowling zen mental toughness. We like to say, the bowling balls do all the work (after you roll them). Just kidding. Fine, bowling is a simple game with not-so simple details. No worry, with a little guidance we’ll make sure you’re throwing your way.
It’s not a big purchase, invest a little in properly-fitted bowling balls, bowling ball bags, and shoes needed to do this right. It’s not a sales pitch, it actually matters. I promise, have your own ball drilled for custom finger holes, and you can make more of your practice time. A precision selected bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. The same goes for wearing quality bowling shoes which don’t stink like desanitizer
After you went ahead and found comfortable bowling equipment, listen to the second best piece of bowling advice: aiming the ball. If you stand, don’t shoot for your actual target, the pins. Use the points about 15 feet down the lane, like a sling shot. Ever noticed them? It’s less difficult to hit a target that rests closer. To take full advantage, make sure you stand in the precise location 4 steps from the foul line every approach. If you do it the same every time you can make small adjustements on your accuracy and angle.
Do we have any tips for hooks, to achieve ball handling and velocity? It is another “Next Steps” bowling hint. They get traction with the pricy reactive ball. Most serious bowlers pack at least two bowling balls to pull off heavy pin action, depending on many factors. Word of warning: greenhorns should not try to be fancy, and steer clear of a ball that weighs a ton. A lot of serious bowlers opt for bowling balls with synthetic surface. However you should know these special-made balls might make even moderately good players appear a fool. With these tips you’re on the right track. A pro from our bowling shop will return in the August edition.
Thanks, James Hundley

Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan has quickly become one of the hottest players on the major poker online professional circuit, mainly for his notorious cash game play and his tendency to play almost any two cards from any position at the casino online. Having made significant appearances in the World Series of Poker, the NBC National Heads Up Tournament, Poker After Dark, and countless events online, Dwan seems to have made his way into the limelight in such a manner that even top name pros are holding their chips a little closer.
In a way, Dwan is the ultimate archetype for the would-be small-time internet online poker gambler. Having worked his way up from an initial $50 bankroll that he put to use mostly in small sit n go tournaments, Drawn now is known to pull down seven figures yearly playing some of the highest action cash games both online and at the table.
What makes Dwan’s style so innovative, it seems, is his ability to push the action in spots where even the most harrowing players might balk. His style has been likened to that of the great Stu Ungar, literally leaving people spinning in his wake. This would include his famous nemesis Phil Hellmuth, who in light of Dwan’s style has expressed perhaps his most pointed exasperation. Regardless, Dwan remains one of the most provocative players at the table. To watch him play is entertainment.
